So, you did it…you finally got that house you’ve always wanted! Now what? Well, we’ve put together an essential list of 14 things that you’ll need to have in that new humble abode of yours.
1. Lights
The first thing that you’ll notice when you move into your new place is that there won’t be any light! LED lights are the perfect solution to this problem, as they are both energy efficient and last forever. Make sure to get some spare bulbs too just to be safe, because you never know when you’ll need one!
2. Tools
When something breaks (and believe me when I say it will!) you will need a solid set of tools to fix whatever fails around the house. This solid set from Stanley can definitely get you started on the right track.
3. Blinds/Curtains
Curtains, of course, are a necessity when it comes to home ownership. You don’t want your nosy neighbors snooping in on you when they shouldn’t be. A decent set of blinds or curtains will keep unwanted eyes out of your home.
4. Plants
Plants are great in your home for many reasons including cleaning the air as well as giving you a good feeling inside. Place some indoor plants in your house to liven up the place!
5. Shelves and Drawers
Where are you going to put your clothes and other important items? Drawers and Shelves of course! Whether you get some high-end stuff or choose to get some IKEA “bang for your buck” furniture, you’re gonna need some of these in the new place.
6. Wall-Art
You definitely wont want your walls to look like a blank canvas, so why not get some quality artwork to spruce up the place!
7. Water Filtration System
Water!!! This is hands down one of the top 5 purchases I’ve ever made in my life. Apec Water makes an awesome reverse osmosis water filtration system that blows everything out of the water (excuse the pun).
8. Fridge
If you don’t already have a fridge in your new house, you’re definitely going to want to pick one up. At least get yourself a nice fridge for your beverages to help you cool of while you’re working on your new house!
9. Washer and Dryer
When your clothes get dirty from all of the hustle and bustle of setting up your new home, you’re doing to need to clean those dirty clothes. Pick up a nice washer and dryer to make your life a lot easier.
10. Bed
When you get tired and need a rest from working on your new home, go ahead and rest your head on your new bed. If it’s been over 7 years, it’s time to get that mattress replaced anyway!
11. TV
You’re going to need a nice TV to show off to your friends while you’re entertaining them at your new house. It’s hard to go wrong with a brand new Samsung!
12. Vacuum
When it’s time to clean up after all the dust settles, a Dyson vacuum is the cream of the crop when it comes to vacuums. Speaking from experience, these things can handle even the most intense messes (including any kind of pet fur/hair).
13. Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Safety is key when you’re setting up your new house which is why it is vital to have carbon monoxide sensors set up throughout your home. Since C0 is undetectable to humans and can be highly deadly, it is highly recommended to have these sensors to alert you of potential danger.
14. Fire Extinguisher
While we’re sticking with the safety theme, our final pic for essential items for your new home is the handy-dandy fire extinguisher. Fire can strike at any time and this tool will save your life!
